Flight 93 Memorial

10/08/2011

Today, I had the opportunity to visit and see the Flight 93 Memorial site in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The three-hour trip was well worth the half-hour or so that I spent in the memorial park. I think these pictures really speak for themselves. Although I had seen the memorial on televison and in pictures online, seeing it in person was a completely unique experience. The memorial site is a perfect way to remember lives lost from Flight 93 on September 11th. I am glad that the tribute was kept simple, yet dignified.

For those of you who may not remember the story, the passengers on Flight 93 learned that the terrorists were attempting to crash the plane into the Pentagon and fought back against them. The actions of those individuals on Flight 93 caused the terrorists to crash the plane early onto an empty field in Shanksville, PA. Although those aboard lost their lives, many others were saved as a result of the bravery by the men and women. The passengers on Flight 93 can be considered true heros for their actions on the day of September 11th.

Here are some other photos of the memorial. The Flight 93 Memorial is now apart of American history.
